GoFundMe now live!
Last winter I took a trip over to the UK to audition for grad schools. It was a really amazing trip, though certainly exhausting. I just felt honored to have the opportunity to audition, and was really pleasantly surprised when I found out a few weeks later that I had been accepted into all five schools I auditioned for.
I started hunting for deals on plane tickets and eventually found one ($500 for a round trip ticket!) and so in January I took another trip over to the UK to take lessons and try to get a feel for each school. Each had a lot to offer but I eventually chose the Royal Academy of Music. I really liked the teachers there and felt they have a really solid program that can help me get where I want to. The one problem is the cost. It’s not as expensive as a conservatory in the US, but it is still a lot of money. They gave me an entrance scholarship and I applied and received a little bit of need-based aid, but the rest will be loans.
I decided to start a GoFundMe to try to see if there were any people in the community who may be interested in contributing to my future as an opera singer. I understand not everyone will give and I don’t want people to feel pressure. I just want people to have the opportunity, if they are able to help me out a little. I thank everyone who chooses to donate, but also everyone who follows along with my progress and supports in other ways.
